EASTER JEEP SAFARI MOAB, UT 2009 - PLEASE SUPPORT IF YOU CAN
Hi everyone,
Once again the Potato Salad Hill is going to be a major attraction for many during the Easter Jeep week. Unfortunately the area is small, gathers large crowds and has no facilities to accommodate those numbers. It also becomes an headache and eye sore for the Sheriffs office and the BLM who is responsible for the land. They are both watching and a little effort from us can save them a big headache and many complaints. Our focused efforts in that area really can go a long way with showing the locals and concerned groups that the 4x4 users take land clean up seriously.
In the past Jeff Knolls from Pirate4x4 has headed up and organized the fund raising and cleanup of the PSH area. A few years ago he was not able to help, so the members of RME stepped up and did their part. Again this is on our shoulders, and gives us a chance to give a little back to the Moab area, and help keep this area open for all of us. Last year (2008) RME members quickly raised over $2,250 to pay for the dumpsters and port-a-potties for the entire week, with over over $450 of that money funded directly to the Moab MUD Fund!
We had several organized clean-ups from members who were able to walk the area to pick up litter and have it disposed of properly. We also coordinated with the recycling center to get recycling bins in place, then emptied daily. Our efforts were noticed and appreciated. One positive example is the good comments we received from “The Solutions of Moab” a recycling center adjacent to the PSH area who takes a personal interest in the PSH area and works closely with the BLM and city council on the condition of PSH. Nearly a year later and they are still saying good things about RME and our efforts to be responsible. Those few hours spent went a long way for our cause!
This year we can only hope for the same. We would like to challenge you to help raise $2000 to fund this project. So far we are half way to our $2000 goal, we need your help to make this be a successful cleanup again! Please donate what you can.
The official Potato Salad Hill cleanups will be happening in the morning, each day of the Jeep Safari. The dumpster and garbage bags will be provided. Please come out and spend a few minutes of your time giving back to the area that we all love, a little effort goes a long way.

About the Castle Country King Crawlers
Welcome to the Castle Country King Crawlers (CCKC) Website. Our club is a family-friendly 4x4 club, based in the Castle Valley of southeastern Utah, with members all over Utah. Our organization is a member club of the Utah Four Wheel Drive Association, and also the United Four Wheel Drive Association. These alliances help to re-enforce one of the reasons the club was organized and continues today, which is to help preserve open access to public lands, not just for motorized vehicles, but for everyone that likes the challenge of the outdoors and the beautiful scenery of southern Utah. Members of our club have spent countless hours mapping and maintaining our local trail systems and working closely with government agencies and our allied clubs toward this end. We hold monthly club meetings. These meetings are open to the public, and we would love to see you there. Also, monthly trail rides are held generally the second or third Saturdays of each month. Visitors are always welcome. We meet at either Gas and Go of Price, or at the CCKC built 4X4 Challenge Park. To find the time, date, and location of the next meeting or trail ride, or if you are interested in becoming a member, please feel free to contact us any time 435-650-1653 or E-mail Jeremy Johnson .
With the help of Carbon County and several private sponsors, our club has designed and built a challenge park at the fairgrounds in Price. It continues to evolve as we build more challenging obstacles. First built were the Rock Garden, Mud Pit, Tire Pit, and a large area to pull against your buddy's truck. Since then, we have added an additional rock garden ( for the big boys), a 30' RTI Ramp, a full blown mini-Baja course a Log Cross, and the Gauntlet which is becoming to the nemesis of all 4X4's. To this, we plan to add several massive hill climbs and some fun smaller obstacles to test articulation and for everyone to play on with little risk of needing extraction. Our hope is to challenge every vehicle from the stock 4X4 to the hand-crafted, purpose-built buggy.
Since 2004, every year our club hosts an event to challenge you and you're rig. With 3 classes of competitors, we've got a place for you if you're interested in competing, or you can make a day out of it, bring the family and watch some 4x4 fun and to witness a little carnage.

Ride Responsibly by Duane Cardall, KSL.com Editorial March 26th, 2008 @ 5:30am
A recent story on the Eyewitness News underscores a serious problem as the use of recreational off highway vehicles proliferate in Utah and throughout the Western United States.
An area in St. George, mostly on land owned by the State School Trust, is clearly closed to OHV riders. Yet fences have been cut and signs shot up. On any given weekend, riders converge on the area in droves.
A state detective recently set out to make riders aware of the restrictions by issuing warning tickets and trying to prevent more damage to the delicate terrain. But, he's only one man and can only do so much.
KSL assumes most OHV enthusiasts are law-abiding citizens. Surely most understand that the purchase of an OHV doesn't summarily authorize the owner to ride willy-nilly wherever one desires. Indeed, those renegades who stray from designated trails and ignore established rules and regulations do their hobby a gross disservice. And sadly, they can do a lot of damage.
With the advent of spring and the outdoor season moving into full swing, KSL urges those involved in motorized outdoor recreation to evaluate their own riding practices. Better to ride responsibly than to contribute to the growing perception that their hobby is getting out of hand. ----- Editorial Used with Permission of Duane Cardall, 3/27/2008 All rights reserved.
